Protomartyr – Exalted Eagles

“Exalted Eagles” starts with the smallest possible anxiety and stretches it into a mock national anthem: a policy list recited like scripture, a chant of approval that curdles into something closer to worship. It’s the final pre-release single from Hotel Usona, out Friday on Domino Recording Co., following Sounds We Cannot Hear (W30) and “Feed the Sewer”.

“So now that you’ve heard a third of the album are you sold?”, Joe Casey asks, characteristically wry, before signing off with a plea for good reviews that doubles as the song’s whole joke.
